Ages 2.5–4 | Afternoon Program 2:00–5:00pm (September–June)

A Program for Preschool Curiosity

Preschoolers are natural problem-solvers. At this age, children are asking big questions (“Why does it fall?” “How does it grow?”) and experimenting through play every day. Our Preschool STEM Program gives them the tools and space to explore those questions in a fun, hands-on way – while building the foundation for school readiness and lifelong learning.

This program doesn’t mean worksheets or advanced concepts. Instead, it means:

  • Rolling cars down ramps to explore speed
  • Sorting leaves, rocks, or blocks by colour and size
  • Building towers, bridges, and tunnels together
  • Watching ice melt or seeds grow and talking about what they see

Through activities like these, children learn early science, technology, engineering, and math skills – all woven into joyful play.

What the Program Looks Like

Each afternoon follows a rhythm that balances structure with open-ended discovery:

Circle Time – A STEM story and a question of the day spark curiosity.
STEM Activity – Hands-on building, experimenting, or problem-solving.
Outdoor Play – Nature hunts, water play, ramps, or bridge-building outdoors.
Snack Conversations – Using new words naturally in friendly discussion.
Take-Home Reflection – Each day, children bring home a simple chart, drawing, or card so families can share in their discoveries.

Monthly Themes (September – June)

Each month introduces a theme that builds on what children are most curious about at this stage:

  • September: Building Basics (blocks, ramps, balance)
  • October: Nature Science (leaves, pumpkins, sorting in nature)
  • November: Weather & Water (rain, wind, ice, sink/float)
  • December: Light & Shadow
  • January: Measurement & Magnets
  • February: Building & Bridges
  • March: Motion & Transportation
  • April: Growing & Gardening
  • May: Animals & Habitats
  • June: Exploration & Review

Across the 10-month program, preschoolers explore 60+ STEM-themed picture books (7-8 new titles each month). These stories spark curiosity, introduce key vocabulary, and give children language to describe their experiments, building projects, and discoveries.

What Your Child Will Gain

By the end of the program, children will:

  • Use 50+ new STEM-related words confidently (fast/slow, sink/float, tall/short, strong/weak, grow, build).
  • Predict and test ideas in playful ways (“I think this car will go faster”).
  • Sort and compare objects by size, shape, colour, and texture.
  • Work with peers to build towers, bridges, tunnels, and group projects.
  • Show readiness for school with early counting, measuring, and sequencing.
  • Feel proud of their experiments and eager to share their learning at home.

Why Families Choose This Program

  • Research-Backed: Children learn best through play, testing, and discovery.
  • Confidence-Building: They celebrate successes and learn resilience when things don’t go as planned.
  • Real-World Connections: From puddles to garden seeds, STEM learning comes alive every day.
  • Small Group Setting: Limited enrollment ensures personal encouragement and guidance.
  • Family Connection: Daily take-homes make it easy to continue the conversation at home.

The Preschool STEM Program makes the most of your child’s natural curiosity – turning questions, play, and experiments into a foundation for confidence, school readiness, and a love of learning.
